When I think of Orlando, Florida, one thing that instantly comes to mind is food and drink. Food is something Florida is most well known for and I can definitely say that the food over there is a straight 10/10.
I have been to Florida a total of 5 times throughout my life, so can confidently say what I would definitely recommend to try whilst over there and things you physically cannot leave without trying!
Here is my Ultimate Orlando, Florida food tick list:
Try A Cinnamon Bun From Cinnabon
If you are a lover of cinnamon or not, trust me in saying trying these cinnamon buns will change your life. Before I tried these, I was adamant I would not like them and that I hated cinnamon, but after trying the classic Cinnabon cinnamon bun it definitely changed my opinion altogether- these are to die for!!! and we totally need a Cinnabon here in Scotland.
Share (or eat yourself) A Simpsons Lard Lad Doughnut
I always see people going around eating these when visiting Universal Studios, but up until my last visit, I hadn't actually ever tried one before! Me, my mum, stepdad, and little brother shared one of these bought from the Lard Lad stand at Universal when I visited in June 2022. Wow, these genuinely are so yummy and are so huge in size- perfect for 4 people (depending on how much of a sweet tooth you have!) Definitely, a must-try.
Try The Panda Express Orange Chicken
I actually always hear people from America ranting and raving about the Panda Express orange chicken, and it is something I have always wanted to try as my go-to order at the Chinese is sweet and sour chicken, which I feel would be pretty similar. Me and my mum waited in about a 40-minute queue at the Panda Express at Universal Studios for this, which was totally 100& worth the wait. The chicken is so so yummy and definitely is similar to the sweet and sour we get back here in Scotland. If you are tired of eating burgers and hot dogs all holiday and want a slight change, then definitely give this a try!
Try A Turkey Leg From Jurassic Park World
Don't let the look of these put you off, they are so so good and are 100% something you must get to snack on whilst passing Jurassic World. My little brother absolutely loved these, and it got to the point he wanted one every time we passed the stand (which I wasn't complaining about as it meant he could share with me!) They are a tad messy, but taste so flavourful and remind me kind of a roast turkey back home- only on the bone.
Try A ButterBeer From The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter
Something I absolutely love the taste of, and will guaranteed purchase every single time I visit Universal Studios, is a Butterbeer. You can get these normal or frozen, I prefer the normal but frozen is pretty good too! The best thing I can think of to compare this to is butterscotch or, Barrs Cream Soda mixed with some ice cream. It is such a sweet sweet drink so is definitely for those with a sweet tooth.
Have A Breakfast From Dennys Or IHop
Breakfast Fry-ups are my favourite thing in the world, so when I came to Florida and saw that they have IHop and Dennys, I knew I had to go to both. I love both of these restaurants and they are both pretty similar. My favorite breakfast to get from here was the full fry-up with pancakes alongside, this was to die for! No to mention how good the hash browns are over in America, they are shredded instead of fried- so so good!
Get A Dougnut From Voodoo Donuts
Right at the heart of City Walk at Universal, is a huge Voodoo Donuts store. I love going here and choosing a doughnut, there are literally hundreds to choose from- every flavour you can think of! Be prepared to wait a while in a queue here though, as every time I have been it has been mobbed- but still totally worth it. The Doughnut I chose last time was pretty boring and basic- a strawberry jam-filled glazed doughnut but still tasted phenomenal.
Try The Blooming Onion From Long Horns Steak House
I am on several different Orlando Facebook groups, and one thing that kept popping up on my timeline was this blooming onion from Longhorns Steakhouse. If you know me you will know that I absolutely love onions and have them on everything- so I had to make sure this was on my visiting list. Longhorns is pretty good for food also, I had a burger and it tasted great but the blooming onion definitely was the star of the show. It's basically an onion that had been deep fried and cut up, Wow, it was so so good and the dip that came with it tasted great too. If you love onion rings, then you will love this.
Try Dippin Dots
I had always wanted to try Dippin Dots but never actually got around to buying them as every time I came across the stand I was somehow full up from eating something else. Whilst I was at Sea World this year, I saw a stand and took my chance and purchased them. They did cost me 14 dollars, but I did enjoy them. These are basically tiny little ice cream balls in a cup that you eat with a spoon, similar to Calypso Shots that used to be out when I was little. I definitely recommend these, they were super yummy.
Get A Philly Cheesesteak From Charleys Philly Steaks
This was arguably one of the best meals I ate whilst in Florida this year, it was so so good. I had had one of these when I visited in 2019 and remember it being super yummy, so I definitely knew I wanted to visit again. If you love steak baguettes, then you need to try them here! The steak is cut so finely and absolutely drenched in stringy cheese- the best kind. You can choose your toppings and sauce, a bit like Subway. I did notice these are always located at the shopping malls and outlets, in the food court- so if you get hungry whilst shopping- definitely give this a go- you won't be disappointed.
Try A Limited Edition Starbucks Drink
I wouldn't classify myself as a Starbucks lover at all, but I do like the odd drink from there. Whilst in Florida this year, there was a Starbucks located inside our hotel and they had just brought out their limited edition summertime drinks- which I just couldn't resist- they looked so good! and I knew it was something we wouldn't get back home. I tried both the Dragonfruit cooler, as well as the pineapple cooler. They both tasted so good. If there are no limited edition drinks out whilst you are visiting, I recommend getting the popular Starbucks 'Pink Drink', as it is something else we can't get back home in Scotland.
These treats look absolutely amazing and take me back to my two holidays to Florida and the amazing meals we had! Yum yum!
Oh this sounds wonderful! Orlando is top of my list to visit
