Date Night Ideas For Every Couple Type This Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day 2023 is fast approaching, and is one of my absolute favourite topics to write about throughout the year! This year I thought I would do something a bit different and write up a Valentine's Date Night guide for every sort of couple- from the sporty couples to the cuddle-up-on-the-couch ones, there's something for everyone!

The Active Couple

Maybe a more niche couple type, the active couple are the couple that is super sporty, into health and fitness and is never caught slacking- even on Valentine's Day.

The perfect idea for this coupling type would be to take health and fitness and put a romantic spin on it. In the morning go for a couples workout together, whether that be just a casual joined gym workout or a couples yoga class- this is the perfect way to mix both intimacies and working out.

During the day a long walk is an idea that allows both partners to spend time together and have a good gossip and chat about everything and anything. Grab a coffee and find a trail you have never walked before.

For dinner, if the health kick is continuing that is and you both haven't caved for a takeaway, cook a fresh new three-course recipe and give something new a try- you might just end up loving it.

The Cosy Night In Couple

Going out isn't for everyone, whether that be because you are more of a stay-in type person or you're trying to save money- staying in on Valentine's Day can be just as fun.

Start the day with a good old cooked breakfast in bed, there is nothing better than this (especially when it is cooked for you). Spend the rest of the day just chilling, full of cuddles any quality time.

When the afternoon dawns, a great idea is to have a totally pamper night. Face masks, hair treatments, massages- afterwards you will be feeling as fresh as a daisy.

For dinner, a huge takeaway order is a must! Order a vast buffet and lay it all out with your favourite movie on in the background and a few drinks if you feel up to it- this sounds like the perfect night to me.

The Party Couple

On the complete opposite end of the spectrum- I think everyone knows a party couple, the ones who are just always out and never know when to call it a night.

Of course, the best way to start off the day is how you mean to go on. A prosecco with breakfast is a fab idea to get you in the mood for the busy day ahead.

Make sure you have a few bookings made if you fall under the criteria for being this kind of couple, a good few weeks in advance even as Valentine's night is always such a busy one for bookings. A cocktail bar for pres, followed by a few bars and then just let the night decide where you both end up.

Although dinner may not be a priority for this type of couple, it is still important to make sure you have some quality time together before going out and bumping into all your other friends and family, so I also would recommend booking a place for dinner before the cocktails commence (just to line the stomach..)

The Go All Out Couple

I am sure everyone sees this type of couple all over Pinterest and Instagram, and if you want to be THAT couple this year, then it's really not that hard!

Booking an overnight is a great idea, especially if you plan on heading out into the town for a fancy dinner then it is a great idea to have somewhere you know you can go back to instead of being stuck for a way home as there is nothing worse.

Of course, if you are booking a hotel for Valentine's Night and want to be the IT couple then you are going to need a few supplies... balloons, rose petals, tea lights and a bottle of prosecco to top it all off. You also can't forget to schedule your girl in a 30-minute photoshoot with all the decorations before you both head out, it's essential.

Dinner and drinks are definitely on the cards for this one, it doesn't have to be a super late night out, or a crazy one but it's still a great idea to have some quality time together before heading back to your hotel.

The Romantic Couple

If you both are the sort of couple who are not at all fussed with Valentine's Day and think it is some sort of gimmick, then maybe something more sentimental would work better for you.

A great idea for this would be to have a super chill day together doing all of the usual stuff such as going for lunch, a walk etc- nothing too out of the ordinary for you both. Later on, at night you both could pull out a bunch of old photographs and sentiments such as cinema tickets, plane tickets and things from past dates and make up a scrapbook together. This can be so much fun as it will allow you both to take a trip down memory lane and of course, is super cost-effective and costs nothing.

For dinner, you could make something that triggers some sort of memory- such as remaking the food you ate on your first date or a home comfort food one of you love.

Finish the night cuddled up at the window looking up at the stars chatting, or watching home videos from when you were both younger- that will be guaranteed to have you both laughing and cringing simultaneously.
