International Women's Day 2022: 10 Brand's That Are Giving Back

International Women's Day is celebrated globally by millions of Women (and Men) across the world on the 8th March every year. On this day we celebrate the achievements Women have made in the past years, as well as honoring the struggles Women continue to face on a daily basis in order to support change.

This years National Women's Day theme is #BreakThebias. This is all about breaking stigmas and recognizing how frequently and often Women are impacted by gender bias. This year's IWD motto is "gender equality today, for a sustainable tomorrow."

While the world has came a long way in terms of Women's rights and equality, it is still not quite there yet. In fact, studies show that Women actually hold less than one third of top jobs in the UK- they are all male dominated.

Let's stand together as Women and make a change, every little helps. There are several different brands this year that are also trying to implement change into todays society by providing help for domestic abuse victims, raising awareness for political issues, funding education for girls in other countries, or something entirely different.

I have created this list of amazing brands that are actually choosing to use their power for the greater good and who are giving back through their sales by donating money to Women's charities on specific items. Hopefully this will inspire you to make a purchase, and help a fellow Woman in need.

Mango t shirt: £17.99

This international Women's day MANGO have created a capsule collection which consists of T shirts and a tote bag. They are donating 100% of the profits of these to Mundo Cooperante, a Spanish NGO that provides support for four social organisations in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Ethiopia and promotes education for vulnerable girls. You heard that right- One hundred percent!

FLO organic eco-applicator tampon: £4.99

Flo doesn't only donate for IWD, but actually donate to charity all year round. Their Flo organic eco-applicator tampons are £4.99, and 5% of the profits from their sales are donated to charities that support women, such as Bloody Good Period (which is fighting against period poverty), and The Orchid Project (which is working to end FGM), all year round. These are a necessity for most women, so why not spend £4.99 knowing your money is also going to a good cause as well as gaining an everyday use item. Its a no brainer!

Emma Bridgewater purple roast half pint mug: £22

I absolutely love this mug from Emma Bridgewater that will leave you empowered with every sip. This mug is only available throughout March and is limited edition therefor you will need to be quick to get your hands on it! This would make the best gift for a Woman in your life. It’s a great way to give back too, with £5 donated to Women for Women International. You really can't beat a good mug.

Monki sweater: £25

This international Women's Day, Monki have released four limited edition hoodies designed to spark conversation about gender inequality. The phrases on the jumpers include “we all deserve equality”, “my body isn’t political” and “if we don’t speak up, who will?”, which are very fitting of this years IWD theme. For this they teamed up with Plan International – one of the largest children’s charities working to ensure girls and boys have access to education, healthcare, clean water and opportunities to help them thrive.

From every jumper sold, 20 per cent will be donated to Plan International’s #GirlsGetEqual campaign, working to give power, freedom and representation for girls and young women globally.

These hoodies are available on the 8th March.
